The Sabine Parish Tourist Commission, by recommendation of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) to help limit the exposure and spread of COVID-19, our Tourist Information Center is closed to the public, however, if you need information please call our office at 318-256-5880, Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30pm.

The Sabine Parish Tourist Commission will continue to monitor the developments and safety recommendations. These are all extremely difficult decisions because it is our job and culture to invite people to Toledo Bend Lake Country. But at this time, we have to follow the CDC, federal government and state government mandates.

Governor John Bel Edwards took additional measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by further limiting gatherings to fewer than 50 people, closing casinos, bars and movie theaters and limiting restaurants to delivery, takeout and drive-through orders only.

This plan went into effect statewide at midnight, March 17, 2020. Operations may resume on April 13. However, the situation will be re-evaluated seven days prior, according to Gov. Edwards. The goal is to flatten the curve so our healthcare systems are not overrun. The Louisiana Department of Health has 136 cases reported and 3 deaths. For daily updates visit, ldh.la.gov/Coronavirus/. Here you can also find guidelines to keep you and your family safe.

Here is what we plan on doing. Please call or e-mail us if your business information needs to be updated:

  • This week some of our local restaurants are able to follow the governor’s new mandates and are still offering drive-thru or takeout orders.
  • We will be calling our hotel, attraction and restaurant partners daily and weekly to keep a tab on openings and closures and communicate those to the industry.
  • We have added this section to our website with closures, links to CDC recommendations and other information. Please follow our Facebook page for Covid-19 Travel Updates (https://www.facebook.com/sabineparishtouristcommission)
  • We will be crafting a marketing plan to build consumer interest and demand to launch when the health of our nation turns around.
  • We will be communicating with festivals, events, and meetings to keep you updated.

During these challenging times, as an organization, we will continue to evaluate the situation and be prepared as much as we can for the tremendous challenge that lies ahead.

Sincerely
