Toledo Bend is back, baby!

"I believe 2016 was the last time Toledo Bend was on fire. Well, 2024 has been very similar to that year so far. The Bend is once again an awesome fishery that is putting out not only quality bass, but bass over 10 pounds. This past May during the Bob Sealy Big Bass Splash was the proof that anglers are embracing."

A look at how Toledo Bend got Its name...

"At 185,000 acres, Toledo Bend Reservoir is the largest man-made lake in the South and a fishing mecca for countless bass, bream and crappie enthusiasts. During the planning stage in the 1950s, some people wanted to name the reservoir Lake Texana, in the tradition of Lake Texoma on the Texas-Oklahoma border.

Toledo Bend was chosen instead when the dam was constructed near Toledo, Texas, where the Sabine River makes a large bend.

Lindy Self of Hemphill, Texas, got to a big, grassy hump in the middle of a main-lake cove at Toledo Bend about 30 minutes before fishing began in the Texas Oilman’s Bass Invitational on Saturday, March 26. He and partner Eliot Bellot were by themselves, but by the time 7 a.m. arrived, they had been joined by four others. Three of them left within a half-hour, but the last fished the hump for 3 hours.
