Straddling the Texas and Louisiana border, the Toledo Bend Reservoir is one of the best places for nature lovers to spend the day. This massive man-made lake has some impressive stats: with 1,200 miles of shoreline and a surface area of 185,000 acres, it’s the largest man-made body of water in the south, the fifth-largest in the country, and offers endless hours of fun for outdoor recreation.

Randy Despino enjoyed an early fishing highlight to the new year during the last week of January, but he expects even more uplifting moments on March 13, the day of the Despino Tire Children’s Miracle Network Bass Tournament at Toledo Bend.

Practice day, February 4th, on Toledo Bend greeted 160 high school teams and around 30 Jr Bassmasters with frigid temps, sleet, and even snow. Saturday teams woke up to a 24-degree temperature and brisk wind gusts.
State youth director Tommy Abbott made a last-minute call to allow teams to trailer to launches on the Louisiana side of the lake to avoid potential rough navigation on a lake known for rough conditions.
The first 200 angler event of the Hobie Bass Open Series Anchored by Power-Pole on Toledo Bend is a wrap!
The top 3 anglers are:
Rolando Nandin conquered the field with a 2 day total of 178.5" earning him $10,500!
Cody Henley earned 2nd with a 2 day total of 177.75" worth $5,500!
Michael Mera earned a 3rd Place with 171.25".over both days, worth $3200!
Toledo Bend Lake Association (TBLA) volunteers are making preparations for the 2022 Bass Unlimited – Back-a-Great-Fighter Banquet and Auction.
