History comes alive at the Battle of Pleasant Hill. The 46th Annual Battle of Pleasant Hill Reenactment and Festival is scheduled for April 10–12, 2026. Held on the original 1864 battlefield, it is one of Louisiana's largest living history events, featuring full-scale battle reenactments, period-accurate camps, and historical demonstrations. The 30th Annual Zwolle Loggers & Forestry Festival is scheduled for Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, 2026. This community event honors the local logging and forestry industry in Zwolle, Louisiana, with a variety of family-friendly activities and professional demonstrations. And, the coveted Weiner Dog Derby is just a tip of the iceberg when it comes to the fun lineup of events.  A downtown parade takes place on Saturday morning, contests & activities like professional sawing contests, a logging skills competition, and the popular Mud Bog event. Dance at Gilligan's til the mornin' light... experience a Louisiana Saturday Night

Well maybe not until the morning light 😂, but you'll have time for plenty of fun. This Saturday, April 11 at Gilligan's on the Bend, you can experience Louisiana in the Spring. Enjoy their delicious boiled crawfish and LIVE music by Lucas Jagneaux and the Road Show. The live music kicks off at 8PM and it's BYOB.

Hiking trails wind through the piney hills of North Toledo Bend State Park, offering everything from easy strolls to longer scenic treks. With multiple trail options, you can choose a quick 1.5-mile loop or take on longer multi-use trails for a deeper adventure. There is also a playground, volleyball courts, kayak rentals and fishing piers. And, if you want to stay overnight, you can do so in their waterfront cabins, RV sites, or campsites.

Slow things down and experience Toledo Bend from water level. Kayak rentals are available at several places at the lake including North Toledo Bend State Park and LTD Marina.
