9th Annual Hodges Gardens Star Party
The 9th Annual Hodges Gardens Star Party is scheduled for Saturday, March 25th from 6:00 PM-10:00 PM. The public is invited to join the members of the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society on the 20-acre field beyond the green houses in viewing the night sky. The members have their telescopes set up all around the field. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and stargaze under the direction of the amateur astronomers. Basic rules of stargazing are followed so only dim red lights are used after dark on the observing field so as not to disrupt the viewing. In order to reduce light pollution on the observing field, attendees must park at the old greenhouses and walk approximately ¼ mile to the viewing field. Bring chairs or blankets as there is no seating available on the observing field. Friends of Hodges Garden will be selling concessions. All profits from these sales will help support restoration efforts in the Gardens. A reduced park admission of $3 per person applies. Pass holders and occupants of their vehicle are FREE.
